Richard,
I wanted you to share with the rest of your team my experience with the J47 refractometer. The instrument has consistently proven to be a great service here, while under the harsh conditions of a 24/7 and 360 day operation. Since we have installed your unit in the laboratory, staff members have preferred the unit over the Auto Abbe for its ease of use and spot on accuracy. Incidentally, I had to train the plant operators that samples could be measured accurately on the Abbe as well. Operators became untrusting of the abbe unit after the J-47 install and jealous that not all staff had access to the new instrument due to its ease of use. With a simplistic design and user-friendly interface, the J47 is what any sugar refinery needs for staff to accurately make process changes and ensure quality products. All without the intense staff training associated with other instruments and at a very reasonable cost.
In addition to the staff response, the samples between our other facility and outside 3rd party labs, have proven the accuracy of the J47. The occasion is rare when we differ more than .05 brix and with the lockout calibration settings, ensuring an accurate instrument in the laboratory has never been easier.
While speaking last week about my need to replace the Auto Abbe, I knew that another J47 would be the correct choice as our replacement refractometer. Rudolph’s commitment to quality instruments and their design, geared towards those in industry, have made their products stand apart from their competitors. Having used Atago, Leica, Hanna, and Misco products, I still prefer Rudolph’s instrumentation for use in the sugar industry and would recommend them to any other sugar processor.
Best Regards,
